New Business cards on the way…

Who’d of thought re-branding would be so time consuming…

The new logo means new business cards, but this time – I plan to keep the cards changing. Moo.com will hopefully help me achieve that.

Most of you who have ever created your own cards will know

a: The design is tricky, you have to take the design of any text into serious account to ensure that you haven’t produced something so small its unreadable (generally you wont be designing your card to the scale they are printed).
b: Unless you have a proof sent to you, your design may be amazing, or really disappointing when you open your shiny new package of cards.
c: They can be very very expensive to produce..

My cards especially are dangerous, ‘why’ I hear you say – because they feature my work. I’ve decided with this incarnation to produce ’samples’ of my recent work. This will mean changing them frequently to showcase my best work.

Thankfully, Moo.com can produce cards quite cheaply – this batch of 200 winging their way to me cost £40 odd, that’s almost £50 cheaper than my last cards cost. OK, so my last cards were made by a HQ print company who could also apply ’spot UV’ treatment to the cards (making my text shiny against a matt card). This time around I’m forgoing this in favour of flexibility (hopefully!).

I have to say, I’m quite nervous. Will the paper be of a nice textured quality? Will they look really really cheap? Will I chuck them straight in the bin or treasure this new found service? If Moo.com have delivered, they will have turned my order around in three working days and won a customer for life!

Check out my first collection of six (out of seven) cards below!

I shoot outside. Statment and fact..

Or at least I did untill Monday gone!

Forced by mothernature and 30 outfits, I had no choice but to break my golden rule and shoot indoors and guess what – I even impressed myself!

Here are a couple of quick teasers of the TF photoshoot soon to be posted after i’ve finished editing!

How to be let down by a model (Charlene)!

So back in December I organised a photoshoot with Charlene [a stunning model who turned out beautiful photograph after beautiful photograph]. I decided to go out on a limb for this shoot with her; we went shopping at Westfields, tearing round the shops attempting to find some weird and wonderful materials to make an outfit with. We settled on a shower curtain and a net curtain to lay over the top. Coupled with some other random nick-nacks to dress the outfit up with I happily dropped a pretty sum of money on these materials.

That evening, Charlene is messaging me till 2am with photographs of the dress she has created with the materials for the shoot – this was swiftly turning into a high fashion shoot.

Come shoot day, last minute Charlene phone’s up ill [my stylist was also ill, but dragged herself to the shoot - any not happy how things turned out] and that was really the last time I heard from her. OK so I was a little disappointed, but I knew once I had more time on my hands to chase, Charlene and I would complete the shoot.

This bring us to today…

If you’ve been following me the last week you’ll know I’m going good guns attempting to do as many shoots as possible – so I dropped on to Charlene’s facebook page before getting ready to message her to sort this shoot out. I haven’t really been active on facebook this last couple of months so I looked at her recent photoshoot’s, lo’ and behold there is the dress I paid for.

She even goes on to quote how the dress and shoot has been 6 months in the making. Lets just say I’m less than pleased about this and I doubt I’ll work with her again. Enjoy the attached photograph of her own time stamped original photograph and the other photographers outcome (I don’t really think it was given justice).

We’ll I guess at least one photographer got to shoot her in it

Ethan’s full set now online at my website (kriselliott.com/ethan.html)

You can now see Ethan’s full first shoot online at my website. To say first and foremost he’s an actor and now a model – he certainly pulled the best he could from the shoot.

I hope to bring some more creative editorial style shoots really emphasing his acting skills in the coming sets so stay tuned!

Can anything top Thailand

Well this time last year I was prepping for my escapade to Thailand. Just mentioning the country’s name brings hundreds of memories flooding back that even the closest experience just don’t exist here in Blighty.

Thailand is like nothing you can imagine if you haven’t been there; everything from the smell of the warm humid climate and dramatic landscape to the Thais’ love for their King and the food being cooked in the Anusan Night Market in Chaing Mai (Photograph insert – not of cooking, but the Night Market).

Many people (myself included) go to Thailand without a set-in-stone plan, they flow with the culture and the other Travellers to see where they end up – and to be honest, I think you may have wasted your trip if you didn’t do that.

Then I think about this year and I know straight away this isnt going to be an easy one to top.. Taking that amount of time off work last year and setting the sort of finances aside to be able to do such a thing even for 3/4wks was difficult (unless you’ve been saving for best part of a year or so – my decision to go was only three months in advance). I also dont think going back to linear holidays will be easy, being tied down to one location is quite the commitment.

So, I’m aiming for a July holiday… okay then, I better get started…..
